I inadvertently discovered a love for the film making of Buster Keaton through the work of Turner Prize winner Steve McQueen (Hunger, Shame, 12 Years a Slave).  Mcqueen’s film Deadpan, 1997, recreated Keaton’s most famous stunt in which a wall of a house falls on top of the character, a cleverly placed window leaves him unscathed and unaware, pure comedy and cinematic genius.

The BFI are currently screening an extensive selection of Buster Keaton’s film and some other that could be considered to have been directly or indirectly influenced by his huge cannon of work.
