The title ‘Further’ is inspired by the book ‘The electric kool-aid acid test’ by Tom Wolfe published in 1968 about the experiences of the psychedelic band Merry Pranksters travelling in their colourful painted school bus names “Further”. The images are all about how music inspires fashion and style using some vintage band t-shirts and accessories and entwining that with new designers collections with a modern psychedelic boy in the band style. It also just so happens that Sean was a musician as well as a model so he embodied the character perfectly… he was that character. He was a dream to shoot with. Just over a week after we shot I got the saddest news that Sean Semmens had passed away and we decided to publish the shoot in memory of Sean.
When we first got to the artists studio location I said to Sean to put on some music whatever he wanted he played the Doors and the first look I had planned for the shoot was a vintage The Doors Jim Morrison t-shirt – I thought it was a funny coincidence and knew then the shoot was going to go even better than I imagined and it did…
