We asked our friends from the Ukranian photographer collective GORSAD some questions about their series Holiday Gift, which they shot for the fourth issue of Dry Magazine. Enjoy a couple of unpublished images from the series below.
Why is the series called “Holiday Gift” and what is the story behind it?
Gorsad: This is a story about a dreamy girl who wants to offer a special present.
There are some symptoms of pyromania bursting out of some of the photos. Does it suppose to symbolize anything?
Gorsad: Burning innocence reminds us of a tasty feeling.
Your work is very focused on youth. Do you think that will change somehow as you grow older?
Gorsad: No, quite the contrary. It’s a kind of vampirism haha.
Are you doing anything individually besides GORSAD?
Gorsad: Each of us are artists on our own. We do drawings and graphics, but at the moment we are all immersed in the life of our child GORSAD.
If you should make a music video, who would you like to do it for?
Gorsad: Hmm… probably Prodigy.
Describe your creative process? How would one of your photo-shoots take place?
Gorsad: This is the secret of the firm haha.
Favorite adult magazines?
Gorsad: Hara Kiri and Playboy.
What profession did your mom expect you to have as an adult?
Gorsad: Swimmer, folk dancer and actress.
What’s the biggest wall you want to break through with your work?
Gorsad: Stereotypes of beauty.
