What drives you in the work that you do?

I love the freedom of making something that I like, or using my own feelings and thoughts and then create something visual or a whole collection inspired by it.

Which thoughts are you putting into your collection when creating it?

First and most importantly: it should be something that I would like to wear myself, and of course the quality of each piece is concidered highly, especially when choosing the fabrics. My thoughts in the design process is pretty much dependent on the whole mood during that collection.

How would you describe your latest collection?

My latest collection SS14 is a very relaxed collection but yet strong, and it is mostly about combining different pieces and creating a look. But the thought and idea behind the collection can be well understood through the pictures.

When chosing and creating your lookbooks, do you aim to communicate a certain kind of feeling depending on the collection?

Yes I love to communicate “that” certain feeling through pictures. For me it is very important to bring the feelings out in the pictures, and I really try to bring that with styling, body language and the choice of light.

Tell me a little about what runs through your mind in a process like that.

If we focus on the lookbook, then I always have an idea on how the pictures should be while I am making the collection. And during the shoot I am actually very relaxed and I enjoy seeing the clothes on the model, which makes it very easy to direct the model.

I’ve read that you’ve once said everything what is created is created out of stillness, what do you mean by that?

I believe in the silence you feel and noticing very small but yet important details. Silence and stillness takes you places that you have never been before. It has a depth in it; still waters run deep. And it is from that depth that things are created.

How do you like to find stillness?

I love to be in a very quiet place. A place where I am able to hear my own thougts, and I also love to find stillness in a crowd actually – I love being that invisible person in a crowded place.

Do you get inspired by nature?

In general yes, but intentionally I have not used nature as a source of my inspiration for my collections yet.

If you were to do a collection of only scenarios and atmosphere, what would it look like?

It is very hard to say, as I have to be in that scenario and atmosphere first, but I know that it will not be a direct reflections of an amosphere in the form of print, nor would I use the same colors as that scenario, but rather I would get inspired by the sillhouttes, cuts, and the whole look of the collection.

If it was up to you, how would you like to spend your next year?

I would love to spend it somewhere faraway and work from there. I have a dream of having my own small island someday, and if it happens then I will be the happiest person on earth.
